We did a virtual private practice retreat with over 120 therapists from all over the country (and the world) last Friday. We heard some common themes from a LOT of therapists
- Feeling numb
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Being overworked
- Feeling guilty for decisions they are making
- Feeling trapped in scenarios that don’t work
- Feeling burnt out
- Feeling alone
Therapists are so focused on taking care of everyone else, that there is not time left for them. And with everything happening in the world, therapists need some self-care and support. But, they don’t feel like they have time or the energy to do it.
Fortunately, therapists found through the retreat that by slowing down and taking some time out in intentional ways: journaling, connecting with others, caring for their bodies, that they could feel a MAJOR shift in just a day. (6 hours to be exact). Therapists finally slowed down, felt their feelings, had a lot of good tears, and realized that it was necessary. Even to move forward and go faster with business growth or to get more down- they needed to slow down to speed up.
