I stayed with a friend once when I was having a hard time and this was her to a tee. I had thought we would get closer and she would be more empathic towards me. But no, every thing was a game and I never knew what part i was going to have to play. The really sick news is that she is a therapist.

Yep, there are narcissists in every arena! They tend to use their power position to exploit those who rely on them most. So damaging.

I would appreciate concrete strategies to shut down the narcissistic games in the first place. What do they encounter that will lead them to try their games someplace else? You can dump a personal relationship, but narcissistic people are still in one’s life as landlords, bosses, representatives, etc.
What kind of Big Dog/Bigger Dog stance can someone take to just shut that baloney down before it starts?
What makes a narcissist stop in their tracks?
Just skip the warnings and do some real damage? Scorched earth retaliation?
What motivation will put a narcissist on ‘pause’? Fear of being humiliated? Physical danger?

You can’t change anyone but yourself. This includes narcissists. You can’t stop them from doing what they do. Why try? What difference does it make? We all have free will, and if someone wants to be a complete A$$, then that is his/her prerogative.
